*The first few entries in the South Cockerington register are deficient in that the father’s name is uncertain, and question marks have been used. It may be coincidence, but many of the names in this column up to 1840 also appear as witnesses, and the surname is different from that of both the bride and groom.

In one or two instances the name of the bride or groom’s mother has been given.
